Rob Edwards shares the crucial new message he’s given to his Wolves players, Conor Coady was right

Rob Edwards has revealed the message he’s drumming into his Wolves players – and it appears Conor Coady predicted it.

Wolves are back in Premier League action tonight against Nottingham Forest, and are hoping to finally get their first win of the season.

Edwards has overseen two defeats so far. But against Villa there were positive signs.

Ultimately, Wolves were made to pay through a combination of not being quite clinical enough, Emi Martinez’s top goalkeeping, and bad luck.

Edwards felt Wolves should have had a foul awarded before Villa scored, but unfortunately it wasn’t given by referee Chris Kavanagh.

Ahead of the game with Forest, Edwards has been speaking about the mood in the camp – and shared one key message he’s given his players.

Rob Edwards wants to create an identity for Wolves

This season, fans have seen so many poor performances.

Under Vitor Pereira, Wolves were often all at sea, and there never appeared to be any recognisable patterns of play. The Portuguese also constantly chopped and changed his side, hoping something would stick.

In the end, Pereira paid the price for not having an identity, with the constant losing of games leading to his sacking.

It’s crystal clear for Rob Edwards what needs to happen at Wolves

Can Edwards really do what Vitor Pereira couldn't?

“We need to become us, and if we do these things consistently, they give us a chance of getting points and winning games.”

Now, Edwards is keen to finally form an identity for Wolves.

He said ahead of the Forest clash (via Wolves official): “We need to become us, and if we do these things consistently, they give us a good chance of getting points and winning games. I can see a belief there.

“They can see that we’re going the right way, and they all knew and felt that it was a good performance. It wasn’t like I was standing in front of them and lying. I’m not searching for positives, there was a lot there, so it certainly makes my job easier.”

This comes after Conor Coady essentially predicted Edwards would try to create an idea at Wolves, and have the team playing with an identity.

Wolves need to find consistency

Wolves have been all over the place this season, and it is now on Edwards to settle things down.

Pereira was always changing the team, and there was never an obvious tactical plan or approach to games.

Perhaps that was due to not having the right calibre of players – undoubtedly, this Wolves squad is far weaker than the one last season.

Conor Coady is in no doubt about what Rob Edwards will bring to Wolves 💯

“What Rob will bring is an idea on the pitch. He’ll give the lads a way of playing.”

But Edwards simply must bring about consistency at Wolves.

It’s about finding a groove, getting that first win and then building momentum and riding the wave of confidence that that will naturally bring.
