Rob Edwards shares key Nathan Shi desire after first meeting and makes Fosun claim some won’t buy

Wolves lost yet again in the Premier League, this time to Brentford – and Rob Edwards had a word for the fans about Fosun after the game.

Wanderers nightmare season continued, with a Keane Lewis-Potter double sealing all three points for the Bees.

Wolves were again drawing with their opponent at half-time, as has been the case in every Rob Edwards game so far, but still went on to lose.

Slack defending cost Wolves, and then, as usual, there was no bite in the final third to get back into it.

Jorgen Strand Larsen missed a penalty for Wolves towards the end, and while it was a terrible effort, it may have been too late for a comeback even if he’d scored.

On Friday night, there was big news when Jeff Shi resigned as chairman – with Fosun seemingly looking to enact positive change, although many have taken a cynical view.

After the defeat to Brentford, Edwards spoke about the owners and their intentions after the big development.

Fosun’s popularity is at an all time low.

The owners enjoyed a very positive start to life at Wolves, getting the club out of the Championship and turning it into an established and competitive Premier League side.

But in recent years, there has been a string of terrible recruitment decisions, and the current squad is one of the worst assembled.

As a result of the situation, there have been protests against Fosun recently, which are set to continue.

But Edwards spoke about Fosun after yesterday’s game with Brentford – and has insisted the owners stand ready to help Wolves get out of this mess.

He said (via Wolves official): “I was in a meeting yesterday where I was informed (change of chairman). But going forward, look, I think Fosun have always shown and said that they’re fully committed to this club and want to see it in the Premier League, and flourishing.

“There’s a big commitment from the ownership, and I met Nathan Shi over the last two days, and he’s someone that seems really committed to being aligned and working with us now in this process, and trying to turn things around.”

He added (via E&S): “It was a quite a brief but positive meeting. The conversation we had was good, he wants to support and get alignment going forward into January.

“I don’t necessarily think loads of changes will happen, but what was encouraging was that everyone will be aligned.

“Fosun are really keen to help. We’re in a difficult situation right now, but they want the club to be in the Premier League, so they do want to help.”

It’s too little, too late for most Wolves fans with Fosun

A lot of Wolves fans will likely not react too well to these comments from Edwards on Fosun.

Simply put, the owners have done irreparable damage to the club and the ultimate price will be paid next year.

They may want to help, but there can be no getting out of this mess that they have created.

Fosun played with fire for years with their recruitment strategy and had a chairman who was not fit for the role overseeing everything.

Edwards is probably grateful of the support. But fans won’t expect anything significant to happen, with relegation all but certain now.
