Rob Edwards’ latest verdict about Ladislav Krejci may well point to a promotion to club captain, if Wolves can keep the player this summer.
Ladislav Krejci has arguably been the best of Wolves’ signings from last summer, with the Czech defender being a mainstay in the backline.
He has also played a few times in midfield, in a showcase of his versatility.
Wolves will buy Krejci permanently this summer, but whether he actually stays is another question.
We’ve seen it before with Benik Afobe that a player can sign and immediately be sold on.
But Wolves fans everywhere will hope that he can be retained – and if that happens, the it may well be that Rob Edwards seeks to make him the next captain at Molineux.
Rob Edwards talks up Ladislav Krejci’s leadership in potential captaincy hint

Edwards faced the media today, ahead of Wolves’ big game with West Ham United tomorrow night in the Premier League.
Wolves have a mountain to climb to get safe, and nothing less than a win will do if they’re to have any chance.
One would imagine Ladislav Krejci will be starting as usual, and Edwards really sang the star’s praises ahead of the clash.
After being asked outright if Krejci could be a captain, he said: “I think he’s certainly someone who’s going in that right direction. He’s a really good professional.
“It’s amazing for him to be leading his country and stepping up in the way that he did. Big moments in big games, it’s really impressive what he went and did.
“I’m pleased for him. He’s progressing really well, his performances have been very good for us. I can understand why they’ve made that decision, even in a group where there might be one or two more experienced players.
“I can see why, I think for a long, long time, he could lead his country, which is really exciting for him. And any of that that can rub off on us will be valuable.
“There’s no doubt about it – he’s a vocal player. You can see the way that he plays and makes demands of his teammates, whether that’s in training or out on the pitch, there’s leadership qualities there.”
Krejci a captain-in-waiting, but Wolves face fight to keep him
Edwards clearly loves what Krejci brings to the table, and it’s hard not to see this verdict as something that puts him in the frame to be Wolves’ next captain.
Obviously he recently became Czechia’s captain, but Edwards’ comments add further weight to Krejci being a great leader.
Toti Gomes is the club captain at Wolves and while he’s an experienced player, many fans have questioned his suitability to wear the armband.
He’s not featured a great deal this season, and ideally you need your club captain to be on the pitch at all times.

Krejci has all the tools to wear the armband from next season.
But Wolves face a challenge to keep hold of him after they sign him.
It seems fanciful to think that other clubs won’t have looked at his performances this term and won’t see him as a transfer opportunity if and when Wolves go down.
