Wolves are into the fourth round of the FA Cup after destroying Shrewsbury Town at Molineux – and Rob Edwards paid tribute to hat-trick hero Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The Old Gold continued their good start to 2026, and it’s now four games unbeaten across all competitions with Rob Edwards’ labour starting to pay off.
Wolves were looking to send a bit of a message on Saturday against Shrewsbury, and the players certainly did that.
It may be too little too late for Wolves to stay in the Premier League. But irrespective of that, these players are showing fight and that’s all supporters want.
Against Shrewsbury, it was a very good day at the office for Jorgen Strand Larsen, who hit a treble for Wolves – and after the game Edwards showered him with praise.

Jorgen Strand Larsen has been crucial to Wolves’ turnaround

It has mostly been a season to forget for Strand Larsen, but yesterday was an enjoyable one for the Norwegian.
Strand Larsen has lost his place in Wolves’ Premier League starting XI in recent weeks, and was clearly determined to take his chance in the FA Cup.
He scored with a great flick, then from distance after a poor pass out from the Shrewsbury goalkeeper, before grabbing his third with a clinical finish in the second-half.
He took centre stage in the performance, but Edwards revealed after the game that the striker’s contributions have been plentiful during this mini-revival.
He said (via Wolves official): “It was amazing for him. I’m really pleased. He’s been working so hard and it’s been a difficult time for him, personally as well, but we all go through this. We all have to take criticism when we’re in this job and in this industry, but it’s about how you can come back from that, and he’s been really good.
Should Wolves be batting away transfer interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen after his hat-trick vs Shrewsbury? 🤔
Rob Edwards certainly can't speak highly enough of his number nine…
“He is a top quality player. I know goalscorers are judged by their goals, and number nines are judged by their goals, but he really has been. We see him every day, and that’s why we pick what we pick, and we make the decisions we do. He’s been really good for us.
“Around the training ground, with the messages that he’s saying, he’s been a big part of why we’ve been able to start turning this around. He’s showing the right things, and he’s a great guy. He works very, very hard, so it’s nice today that he’s been rewarded with the goals, nice that he got a really good reception when he was coming off, which is another thing that’s really pleased me today.”
Strand Larsen criticism has been overboard at times
It’s not been the season Strand Larsen was hoping for, so it was nice for him to have a day like he did on Saturday.
At times, the criticism of the striker has been overly harsh. We’ve all seen what he can do at this level, and he has really suffered as a result of losing such brilliant creators that were around him.

Yes, there have been occasions where he could have done more. But there are some definitely valid factors behind his fall-off.
What is good to hear is that he has seemingly played a huge part in Wolves’ mini-revival, despite not starting most of the games.
It’s always been maintained that Strand Larsen is a good egg, and Edwards’ comments are telling of his character.
