Rob Edwards looks set to become Wolves’ next manager, and sources close to Molineux News say Joleon Lescott will be joining the backroom staff.
It looks like Wolves are edging closer to replacing Vitor Pereira.
Middlesbrough announced that their pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with Birmingham has been cancelled, which goes some way to suggesting Edwards is Wolves bound.
He has been leading the race for some days, and it has become clear that Edwards is interested in the Wolves job.
Now, a fresh update from Molineux supports the idea that the role is close to being filled. It also looks like an ex-Wolves defender will be brought in to play a part.

Joleon Lescott being eyed for staff role at Wolves by Rob Edwards
There are many moving parts here, and an official announcement won’t be made until everything is confirmed.
That being said, there is enough chatter emanating from Molineux to give us confidence in the direction of travel for Wolves.
Sources close to Molineux News understand Edwards will be looking at other former players to make up his backroom staff, and “Joleon Lescott is one of those who could come in.”
Lescott has been up to a lot since retiring in 2017. He has worked as a pundit covering the Premier League, pursued further education in sports administration, and coached alongside Lee Carsley for the England Under-21s.
He spent six years at Molineux, making 212 appearances and winning promotion to the Premier League in 2003.
Wolves can expect a culture change under Rob Edwards
If Edwards is in fact announced — which looks by far the most likely outcome now — he will be overhauling the setup that Pereira was operating in.
The good thing is that many of the Wolves players have only been here two or three months, and they will be malleable to the vision of the 42-year-old.

Lescott is apparently just one of a number of former players who could be reintroduced, which would mark a dramatic change from how Wolves have operated in recent years.
One thing is for sure. Change won’t be resisted, with everyone understanding the urgent need for a drastic turnaround this season.
