Rob Edwards’ post-match comments about Jackson Tchatchoua may put him in contention for another start against Liverpool tonight.
Wolves recorded a brilliant 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Friday night, giving one of the best moments in what has been a very difficult season.
And one man who made an impact against Villa was Jackson Tchatchoua.
Tchatchoua crossed the ball from the right side, with Adam Armstrong laying off Joao Gomes to score.
It was a good second-half display from the Cameroon international, and Edwards was pleased with the full-back.

What Rob Edwards said about Jackson Tchatchoua

Speaking after the game, Edwards said (via Wolves official): “I said to him today, that because they know how quick he is, and the qualities that he has, supporters just want to see him go and be brave. If it doesn’t come off, go and do it again.
“I’ll be stood on the touchline clapping and trying to encourage that. I think we saw more of that in the second half, and what he is capable of doing – it was great that he was involved in the goal.
“One thing I will say is he’s in the team to defend first and then give us that attacking threat. His defensive work has been outstanding since we’ve arrived.
“It’s important people don’t forget that, because invariably, especially in the Premier League, he’s up against a world class left winger, or more than just a left winger, probably a full-back and a midfielder as well, because of the amount of numbers that teams can get high up, and his defensive work has been great.
“He’s been doing very well with that.”
Tchatchoua looks set for start vs Liverpool, which won’t go down well with everyone
It is clear that Tchatchoua is in Edwards’ good books at the moment.
Even though it’s a fairly quick turnaround, this verdict does suggest that he will be starting against Liverpool barring any unforeseen issues.
And, even though he did well in the second-half against Villa, this won’t go down well with a lot of Wolves fans, who have questioned Tchatchoua for a lot of the season.
There is no denying that he has been a disappointing signing overall.

He’s the fastest player in the Premier League, yet seems scared half the time to take on his opponent.
And when he does work some space for himself, the delivery tends to be very good most of the time.
Not only does he not really pass the eye test, his underlying data isn’t great either, with WhoScored metrics putting him 20th (out of 29 players to have represented the team in the Premier League) in Wolves’ squad in terms of average ranking.
With Rodrigo Gomes having scored against Villa, there will be clamour for him to start tonight. But fans should not be surprised if Tchatchoua gets the nod once more.
