Rob Edwards’ changes at Wolves highlighted as they rank near top of promising stat

There was a lot for Rob Edwards to fix at Wolves, and in some areas he has made a noticeable improvement already.

It was always going to be tough for the head coach to turn the ship around at Molineux, as the Wanderers simply do not have enough quality to win games at the moment.

However, instilling his principles and making the side look like a cohesive unit was one of the most important changes to make early on.

Sam Johnstone has confirmed Edwards is big on standards and that the Wolves chief is taking no prisoners in that aspect.

And the data proves that is the case.

It’s crystal clear for Rob Edwards what needs to happen at Wolves

“We need to become us, and if we do these things consistently, they give us a chance of getting points and winning games.”

Rob Edwards has brought a new culture to the Wolves training ground, and if that was not clear, it certainly is now after this stat.

The Old Gold are quickly becoming one of the hardest-working sides in the Premier League, and that will be a welcome source of pride for fans and players, especially in a season that has lacked it.

Since Rob Edwards was appointed as head coach, the Wanderers rank fifth for sprints.

The change of identity was evident after playing Aston Villa, as the sprint numbers showed there was more running on average in games than the previous fixtures under Vitor Pereira.

However, this overall data does make for good reading for Edwards and shows the Wanderers are becoming one of the most intense sides in the league.

Tactics are a big part of football, but getting the basics right is extremely important, and Rob Edwards has done that well so far.

Wolves are more hard-working and have an added defensive solidity about them already under the new head coach.

While goals do win games, and that is certainly the next challenge for Edwards to tackle, the implementation of these simple principles has gone well.

Conor Coady is in no doubt about what Rob Edwards will bring to Wolves 💯

“What Rob will bring is an idea on the pitch. He’ll give the lads a way of playing.”

David Moller Wolfe admitted training was not good under Pereira and has said they are beginning to improve in that aspect.

Sometimes simple changes make all the difference, and so far that has been the case, certainly in the aspect of the players working hard.
