Rob Edwards calls up Wolves 19-year-old to first-team squad ahead of Brentford

Wolves have leaned on Mateus Mane in recent games, and it appears as if Rob Edwards is set to turn to even more of the youth team.

Vitor Pereira was the one Wolves manager who seemed to forget the club even had a youth team during his spell at Molineux, as calls for players like Mateus Mane fell on deaf ears.

However, things have changed over the past month or so. James Collins actually introduced Enso Gonzalez, Tawanda Chirewa and Mane in his pre-match interview for the Chelsea clash.

Mane is the one who has stuck around in the first-team since then and even provided the assist for Tolu Arokodare’s goal against Arsenal last time out.

With the current players in the first-team struggling to find a first win in the Premier League, Edwards has been given no option but to explore other solutions.

Little amount of minutes for Mateus Mane, but a big impact. Should he be one of the first names in the starting XI against Brentford now?

If you are good enough, you are old enough.

Ethan Sutherland spotted in Wolves training

Tawanda Chirewa and Emmanuel Agbadou have headed off to the African Cup of Nations, leaving space for potentially two players to join the first-team.

One of those appears to be Ethan Sutherland, who was spotted in training alongside Jorgen Strand Larsen ahead of the Brentford clash.

The 19-year-old has appeared 22 times this season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists, predominantly operating as a left midfielder.

However, he can also operate at left-back.

Rob Edwards faces some big decisions ahead of Brentford

After the late surge against Arsenal, the likes of Tolu Arokodare and Mateus Mane have surely put their names in the hat for a starting place against Brentford.

Edwards has played Jorgen Strand Larsen in every game of his Wolves tenure from the start, but it seems as if he could really do with a rest after hitting a wall.

Brentford have tall, imposing centre-backs, which could work in Arokodare’s favour. Plus the fact that he will be high on confidence after his first goal for the club.

After his assist last time out, surely Mateus Mane has to start. Hwange Hee-chan offered very little against Arsenal and squandered a chance early on, whilst Jhon Arias he been largely ineffective.
