Jorgen Strand Larsen’s struggles continued at the weekend against Brentford, but Rob Edwards issued a defiant verdict over his number nine.
Wolves crashed to a 2-0 defeat against the Bees, with Keane Lewis-Potter at the double for the visitors.
Wolves were again in the game at half-time. But sloppy defending saw them go on to lose, which has been a recurring theme under Rob Edwards so far.

Unfortunately, Wolves just do not have the quality in the final third this season, meaning games are likely done as soon as the opposition go a goal up.
It has been a season to forget for Jorgen Strand Larsen, whose tame penalty against Brentford prompted more criticism.
Fans have been scathing at times in the last couple of months, with some even questioning his body language and attitude.
For Edwards though, he is adamant that Strand Larsen – who has emerged as a target for West Ham – will come good.

Rob Edwards insists Jorgen Strand Larsen hasn’t ‘given up’

The drop-off from Strand Larsen has been remarkable.
This is a player who scored 14 non-penalty goals in the Premier League last season, but has managed just one this term.
There have been some factors that potentially explain his struggles. The loss of key creative players hasn’t helped as he previously relied on their service, and he also had injury problems earlier in the season.
But plenty think he should be doing much more.
After the defeat to Brentford, Edwards doubled down on Strand Larsen and supported him. And he also insisted that the striker hasn’t ‘given up’.
Wolves fans, has the recent criticism of Jorgen Strand Larsen been overboard?
Rob Edwards is backing his number nine amid his struggles…
He said (via E&S): “I think over the years, people love someone who comes back and can prove people wrong and can turn things around. I think people would really appreciate that if they see the total commitment and effort.
“He can turn it around. He’s a good enough player to be able to do that.
“That might take some time as well, but he’s trying really hard. He hasn’t given up.”

Strand Larsen a major loser of Wolves’ summer window
There is no doubt that Strand Larsen has been massively under par this season.
But it can also be argued that the striker has been one of the biggest losers of Wolves 2025 summer window, which saw so many key players leave.
The Norwegian was often assisted by the likes of Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Pablo Sarabia and Nelson Semedo last season. None of those players are around now.

He is not the type of player who’ll drop deep, take matters into his own hands and ping a ball into the top corner. He is reliant on service, and it just hasn’t been there this season.
There can be some sympathy for Strand Larsen and there is no reason to doubt Edwards when he says the player hasn’t given up.
Perhaps the body language could be slightly better at times, but he is likely frustrated more than anything. After all, it’s always been suggested that he is a great character and personality.
