Rob Edwards already given selection headache as Wolves star leads way in numerous statistics

Rob Edwards’ first Wolves XI will not be an easy decision, and Hugo Bueno and David Moller Wolfe appear to be giving him a big headache already.

David Moller Wolfe has not had the best of starts to life at Molineux, but his recent performance against Chelsea offered a glimpse into what he can offer out wide.

The Norwegian scored two goals against the Blues in the Carabao Cup but has not had any more minutes since.

Moller Wolfe put on an exceptional performance for Norway on Thursday, and Edwards will no doubt take notice.

However, that could all be in vain, as Hugo Bueno tops the charts in a key area for his position.

Hugo Bueno tops crossing stats across the Premier League

Hugo Bueno has been a surprise contender for Wolves’ best player this season so far after being sent out on loan last season.

The arrival of David Moller Wolfe looked to set him back further in the pecking order, but so far, it has been the opposite.

Bueno has been excellent for Wolves going forward, and while they have struggled to score, it has not been the fault of the Spaniard.

In the Premier League, no other player has more attempted (52) and successful (21) open-play crosses than the defender.

Additionally, he has created the most chances from open-play crosses (9) and has the highest xA of 0.87 from them as well.

Unfortunately, this season his efforts have not been converted into any assists so far.

It is a trait that Rob Edwards will love. Alfie Doughty picked up ten Premier League assists during his time as Luton’s left wing-back, and with the qualities of Bueno, that could be replicated.

Tchatchoua could also benefit from Edwards’ use of wing-backs, in what could spark a turnaround for the Cameroonian.

Tough call for Rob Edwards ahead of Crystal Palace

It is no doubt a tough decision for Rob Edwards ahead of his first game in charge, however, we have predicted Bueno to get the nod.

David Moller Wolfe was the star of the show the last time he featured for the Old Gold, and he is now performing on international duty too.

However, Hugo Bueno is not away with his country, and that will give him more time to impress the new boss on the training ground.

Unlike Moller Wolfe, Bueno has already met Edwards, and that head start could give him the boost to get the nod on Saturday.

Time will tell who becomes the number one, but it is not the worst problem for the head coach to have.
