Reported Wolves target Matheus Nunes scores incredible goal for Sporting

Wolves failed to find the back of the net against Fulham yesterday – and just hours later, Matheus Nunes scored a very special goal for Sporting CP.

Wanderers had chances against the Cottagers, but could not find a way through at Molineux.

There was some positive play and good work in possession, especially in the first-half.

But Wolves just lacked a cutting edge as has so often been the case in recent times.

It was a display that will prompt more calls for the club to go out and sign an out-and-out striker.

Following Wolves’ 0-0 draw with Fulham, Sporting were taking on Rio Ave at the Jose Alvalade Stadium – and there was a truly brilliant goal from Wolves target Nunes.

The star picked up the ball in an inside left position around 25 yards from goal.

He looked for options, before deciding to unleash an absolute thunderbolt into the top corner.

Rio goalkeeper Jhonatan got a slight touch on it, but had no chance of saving it.

It was the mark of player who is bang in form at the moment, and it is little wonder Sporting are looking to hand him a new contract with a wage increase.

It is thought Wolves are still in the market for new central midfielder.

Nunes is thought to be a player of interest to Bruno Lage and Wolves officials.

It was claimed recently that Nunes had actually turned down one proposal from Wolves.

The 23-year-old is a box-to-box midfielder who just makes things happen.

Who knows at this point how much of a chance Wolves stand of signing him.

But it’s clear that if he does head to Molineux in the next few weeks, the club will be signing someone who could totally transform the team.
