Wolverhampton Wanderers are said to be keen on IFK Goteborg midfielder Alhassan Yusuf.

According to an exlusive report from Score Nigeria, the star is interesting a number of clubs from the Premier League and could be set to depart the Swedish outfit this summer.

It was apparently something of a surprise that the dynamic ball-winner – who notes Barcelona legends Xavi and Andres Iniesta as his biggest influences (via First Time Finish) – remained at the club beyond the last transfer window.

Many expected him to depart, but the 20-year-old stayed put to see out what was a disappointing season for Goteborg, who finished 12th.

But Yusuf caught the eye in 2020, with Score Nigeria explaining he finished fourth for number of passes made with 1828, at a 89.6% completion rate.

The latest report about Yusuf being tracked by Premier League clubs comes after the same publication claimed in June last year that Wolves were targeting him, along with Sheffield United.

Leicester City have also been credited with interest, with the Foxes already possessing a fellow countryman of Yusuf in Wilfred Ndidi.

Yusuf has qualities other Wolves stars don’t have

Yusuf being compared to N’Golo Kante is quite exciting.

The French star is obviously a world-class player, who has carved out a reputation as being one of the best ball-winning players in the game.

Currently Wolves don’t really have a pure ball-winner with tenacity or mobility.

Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho are more technical and work best in possession of the ball, while Leander Dendoncker brings physicality and versatility.

It can be argued there is need for someone like Yusuf, so perhaps his name is worth keeping an eye of for Wolves fans.
