Report: Sasa Kalajdzic regarded as a key player by Wolves for next season

Wolves are reported to regard Sasa Kalajdzic as a key player for next season.

Throughout 2022/23, goalscoring has once again been a real issue for Wolves.

With the campaign now nearing an end, Wolves have scored 29 goals in 34 games. Only the bottom two clubs, Southampton and Everton, have scored fewer.

The rate of scoring has picked up slightly since Julen Lopetegui came in.

But there is still a feeling that Wolves need to be finding the back of the net far more regularly than they currently are. Especially given the quality of some of the attacking players in the squad on paper.

According to the Telegraph, there’s one man Wolves believe might be able to help with this mission to become more free scoring.

Kalajdzic is apparently seen as a ‘key player’ for next season.

Kalajdzic was signed from Stuttgart for around £15 million last summer, after Fabio Silva was loaned out to Anderlecht.

He made his debut against Southampton, but would last just 45 minutes. He suffered an ACL injury, ruling him out for the entire season.

It was a great shame for Kalajdzic, and a frustrating one for Wolves to take.

It looks as though Wolves will be a Premier League club again next season and seemingly Wolves see the Austrian as a central figure to the plan to score more goals.

Sasa Kalajdzic could be a brilliant playing with Matheus Cunha

This is an interesting claim about Kalajdzic.

It sounds as though Lopetegui likes what he is about and is keen to use him regularly next season.

We have seen Wolves play some good stuff with Matheus Cunha and Diego Costa.

It is possible Costa may leave after just one season at Molineux. But Kalajdzic could offer similar traits to the Spain international. Specifically, holding up the ball and bringing others into play.

Potentially, he and Cunha could be a great new partnership.

At Sevilla, Lopetegui had Youssef En-Nesyri, who is not too dissimilar to Kalajdzic in terms of play style.

So you could certainly see him looking to use Kalajdzic often.
