Juventus are hoping to send Douglas Costa to the Premier League on loan, following a failed stint at Bayern Munich.
Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that the Italian giants could end the Brazilian’s stint at Bayern early and could look to send him to either the Premier League or the Brazilian top-flight.
Costa has made 17 appearances for the Bavarian side in 2020/21, but has largely been making cameos off the bench, with the likes of Serge Gnabry Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane and even youngster Jamal Musiala preferred.
Against Freiburg yesterday, he didn’t even make the bench.
Gazzetta’s claim comes just months after it was reported (Tuttosport via the Daily Star) Jorge Mendes was trying to facilitate a £37 million move to the Black Country for Costa.
A move never materialised and the South American returned to the Bundesliga for a second spell with Bayern.
Gazzetta mention the fact Wolves were interested previously, as well as Manchester United.
Something to consider
If Juve are looking to loan Costa to a Premier League club, perhaps Wolves needs to think about getting involved.
A move did not make sense during the last window, but the picture is looking quite different now.
Nuno needs an out-and-out striker of course, but Costa can play on either wing and could boost squad depth.
Injuries have really hit Wolves hard this season and maybe it wouldn’t harm to have an extra, experienced attacker for the second half of the season. And there is less of a risk him coming in on loan, although wages would probably be fairly high.
Quite often this season Wolves have lacked that ‘X-factor’ in games – Costa is very much an individual who can bring that.
