Wolverhampton Wanderers are in talks with John Ruddy over a contract extension.
According to a report from The Athletic, the veteran stopper may yet remain with the club for another season.
The situation has been very quiet up until now.
It has led to some to think that he might leave the club on expiry of his contract.
But it looks like officials aren’t ready to watch him depart just yet.
Ruddy, who has been with the club since2017, is known for being a big personality in the dressing room.
He is firmly behind Rui Patricio in the pecking order, tending to play only cup games these days.
But he has been content with his role, and it seems he could be set for another year in the Black Country.
He is certainly a popular figure at the club, having played a big part in Wolves’ promotion back to the Premier League in 2018.
It would be a good decision
News of Ruddy potentially sticking around for another year at least should be welcomed by fans.
Only recently Nuno Espirito Santo said of him after the defeat to Everton last month: “Besides (being) a fantastic goalkeeper he’s a big man, I really admire him, he did a good game.
The 34-year-old really is an important member of the dressing room, and is still not too bad ability-wise.
