Ronan is back after a fantastic season with St Mirren that saw him score eight goals.

The star has been with Wolves since the age of 16, and has clocked up just 13 appearances for the first-team so far.

He’s not turned out for the first-team since 2017, having had a had a string of loan spells.

But it could be that he now gets reintegrated into the squad for 2022/23, with Ronan having made an impression so far during pre-season according to the Shropshire Star.

Apparently, he has already impressed several players in the Wolves squad, and they would be open to him staying with the team.

Ronan will now be given a chance to stake his claim by Lage.

It is expected he will play some part in the upcoming games against Deportivo Alaves, Levante and Besiktas next week.

It is still possible for Ronan to be offloaded this summer though. He has interest from the likes of Aberdeen and Hearts.

Connor Ronan could become unlikely option for Bruno Lage at Wolves with star having impressed teammates

It is interesting to hear that Ronan has impressed a number of the Wolves squad already.

Currently, Wanderers are light in terms of midfield options, so it would be really good if Ronan actually did prove himself to Lage.

And what a story that would be.

Ronan has had a string of loan spells, and it has felt like he will probably just be sold by the club. Especially since he is now 24 years old.

But perhaps he will be a late bloomer like Maximilian Kilman.
