Adama Traore is said to be ‘nervous’ about his prospects of staying at Barcelona, after the winger was snubbed again at the weekend.
The Spain international looked likely for a start leading up to the game.
Ousmane Dembele was named on the bench, and there had been suggestions that the star on loan from Wolves could come in.
But there was to be no start for Traore, with Xavi instead plumping for Memphis Depay in attack, along with Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
And Depay justified his selection, scoring in the 25th minute.
Traore will have then hoped to get on for Barca at some point. But he didn’t feature at all, with Xavi sending on Dembele, Ansu Fati and Clement Lenglet. He didn’t even warm up.
According to SPORT, Traore could be seen after the game having a chat with Xavi’s brother and assistant manager Oscar.
Journalist Santi Ovalle, who attended the game, noted that the pair had a long conversation, and that Oscar was trying to calm a frustrated Traore down.
Supposedly, the 26-year-old is ‘nervous’ about his chances of sealing a permanent move to Barca given his lack of opportunities of late.
He had been hoping to earn a move to the Nou Camp for next season.
But that is now looking unlikely. He hasn’t started a La Liga match since the end of February.
A shame for Adama Traore and frustration for Wolves, as report claims star is nervous about Barcelona prospects
One can’t help but feel a little sorry for Traore.
After the start he had, opportunities have been extremely scarce for him at the Nou Camp.
It’s a shame for him because going back to Barca was his dream move. And it isn’t working out for him.
And it’s hugely frustrating for Wolves too, because he isn’t putting himself in the shop window and his value is decreasing.
All in all, the loan of Traore to Barcelona really has been a disaster.
