‘Ready to go’: 22-year-old Wolves man says he can now start for the club

Tommy Doyle finally arrived on the scene for Wolves this past weekend in a wonderful display against Bournemouth.

In Saturday’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, Wolves saw the first signs of a star in Tommy Doyle.

He was so good that post-game, Gary O’Neil singled him out for praise, saying the 22-year-old was ‘excellent’.

Doyle will be hopeful that this is the beginning of his time as a regular for Old Gold.

Now he has spoken about his start to life at Molineux with Express and Star, in which he said he is ready to start.

Doyle on being ready to start for Wolves

“Maybe (I am different), but we can all play football,” he explained.

“It’s about learning off each other, working hard and if you’re called upon, being ready. I’m ready whenever the gaffer needs me, so hopefully that’s every week, but if it’s not I’ll support the lads and hopefully, we can keep winning.

“I came in with a slight knock from the Euros, but I was fine. It was then about building up strength again and being able to compete and I feel like I’m in that position now where I’m ready to go.

“It’s taken a little bit of time but all I want to be able to do is give 100 per cent for the lads, the manager and for the fans.”

Will he start this weekend in Wolves v Newcastle?

With Mario Lemina returning, O’Neil has a massive decision to make, has Doyle done enough to warrant a start?

We think he has, to come off the bench and instantly change the game shows his quality. This could greatly benefit Wolves against a quality Newcastle side.

Doyle gives Wolves better on-ball quality which gives a boost in regards to controlling games.

We would start him, with a returning Mario Lemina next to him which leaves Joao Gomes on the bench for this one.
