‘Probably’: £7m player who Wolves reportedly want to sign predicts them to be relegated

Wolves target Michail Antonio has released his prediction for the Premier League relegation battle this season.

The West Ham United striker was talking on the BBC’s Footballer’s Football Podcast, admitting that new boss Gary O’Neil has a tough ask to keep the club in the Premier League.

33-year-old striker Antonio and Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson were both in agreement that new boys Luton Town and Sheffield United will suffer immediate relegation back to the Championship.

However, the pair disagreed over the third and final relegation spot, with Wilson predicting David Moyes’ Hammers to drop down to the second tier after the departure of Declan Rice to Arsenal.

Jamaican international Antonio, questioned the situation ongoing at Molineux, before predicting the Wanderers’ relegation.

Michail Antonio on Wolves’ chances this season

It is safe to say that Wolves have had a very turbulent pre-season up to now.

Player departures, as well as an unexpected managerial change, have cast doubt over the club’s Premier League future

West Ham striker Antonio criticised Wolves’ approach this season, before ultimately predicting the club to suffer a return to the Championship.

“I’d probably have to go Wolves right now because I don’t really know what they are doing with their strategy. They are selling players and not bringing players in.

“They have got rid of their manager who was doing well for them. I understand bringing in Gary O’Neil, he did well for them [Bournemouth] at the time!

“O’Neil has joined the club late, he’s not had a pre-season to get his ideas across, so he has to do that whilst the Premier League season is ongoing which is a very hard task.”
