‘Prime Bergkamp’… Wolves fans all in agreement about Matheus Cunha after Fulham thrashing

Matheus Cunha stole the headlines once more as Wolves recorded a shock 4-1 thrashing over Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Wolves fans were left extremely worried before kick-off as Craig Dawson and Santi Bueno were both missing from the matchday squad, forcing captain Mario Lemina to play in defence.

Fulham increased their worries even further when Alex Iwobi curled the ball past Jose Sa as another away loss was anticipated.

But the Old Gold showed grit, determination and character to come from behind as Matheus Cunha played a starring role for the second game running.

The Brazilian got his side back on level terms with a wonderful lob after Lemina found him with a sublime long pass.

Cunha then teed up Joao Gomes with a slide rule pass in the second half before adding a third, curling the ball beautifully into the top corner.

Goncalo Guedes then came off the bench to add a fourth on an amazing afternoon for the Wolves supporters.

Wolves fans react to Matheus Cunha’s masterclass vs Fulham

Cunha seems to get better every week, and today was no exception, as the 25-year-old scored two goals and supplied an excellent assist.

He continues to leave supporters blown away by his performance and his first goal, in particular, got everybody talking on social media.

The way he lobbed the ball superbly over Bernd Leno saw one supporter compare him to the great Dennis Bergkamp, who said: “I could watch Cunha’s goal again and again. Like prime Bergkamp. Filth.”

“Get in what a finish from Cunha, phenomenal player!!” another said.

“What the hell would we do without Cunha?” a third added.

A few fans even pointed out that while Cunha’s goal was brilliant, they expect to see interest come in for him in January.

“What a ball, what a finish. Enjoy cunha while you can, vultures looming.”

“We will be lucky to have Cunha past January. He’s a special player. 1-1,” another replied.

Cunha stats vs Fulham

Dave Edwards recently praised Cunha for his performance against Southampton, claiming it was the best individual display he’d seen in a Wolves shirt.

Remarkably, after scoring two excellent goals and providing an assist, Cunha has outdone himself at Craven Cottage with an outstanding display.

It’s underrated how important it is to have someone who can produce the spectacular regularly, and the exceptional forward was also brilliant with his all-round display.

In the battle for survival, no other team in a relegation battle arguably has a player who is as good as Cunha, and that could be what saves Wolves this term.
