Phil Neville says Leonardo Campana is currently 'almost undroppable' for Inter Miami

Inter Miami manager Phil Neville has said Leonardo Campana is ‘almost undroppable’ at the moment, with the Wolves loanee in great form.

The striker has really stepped up of late for the MLS side.

He made headlines recently for scoring a hat-trick against New England Revolution. He was also involved in Inter’s winning goal against Seattle Sounders, and scored against Miami FC in the cup.

Campana has taken the opportunities handed to him with both hands.

Those opportunities have come about as a result of an injury to Gonzalo Higuain.

The 34-year-old has returned to training now, but faces a real battle getting back into the start XI. He knows that, with Neville noting the intensity of the veteran as he looks to displace Campana.

Campana has certainly made a big impression on Neville though, and it seems the manager will continue to pick him even though Higuain is back in the picture, so long as he keeps performing.

He said (via 90min): “I think Campana at the moment is almost undroppable with his form and when goalscorers get on these runs you just let them fly, you don’t take them out of the action.

“That is a brilliant problem for us to have up front.”

Inter go in search of a fourth straight win against Atlanta United on Sunday. That is something the franchise has never done before.

Leonardo Campana thriving for Inter Miami, and they’ll surely look to buy him

Campana is flourishing for Inter after joining them in January, and he is clearly rated very highly by Neville.

The Ecuador international signed for Wolves in 2020, but it would be a surprise if he made any first-team appearances for Wanderers.

Inter is his third loan spell, and they do actually have an option to buy the player (via Marca).

It would be a real surprise if they didn’t move to trigger it.
