Phil Neville hails Leonardo Campana again after Wolves loanee continues fine form

Leonardo Campana has again come in for high praise from Phil Neville, after the Wolves striker scored and assisted for Inter Miami at the weekend.

David Beckham’s MLS outfit took on Atlanta United at DRV PNK Stadium.

The team had the chance to achieve something they never have before; win four games in a row.

And that’s exactly what they did, with Campana playing a key role in the 2-1 win.

The Ecuador international started once again for the south Florida side, despite Gonzalo Higuain being available for selection again.

The Argentinian striker had been injured recently, but Inter have not missed him thanks to the red-hot form of Campana.

Neville raved about Campana after he hit a hat-trick against New England Revolution earlier this month, stating that he really liked him.

Ahead of the game with Atlanta, Neville had said that Campana’s form was helping to create ‘a brilliant problem’. And he also described him as ‘almost undroppable’.

Against Atlanta, Campana came in clutch for Inter. Neville’s side were 1-0 down thanks to a goal from Ronaldo Cisneros.

The 21-year-old plucked a cross from DeAndre Yedlin out of the air with a lovely swivel, before firing low into the far corner. It was a seriously well taken goal.

And then, the South American turned provider, sliding the ball across for Bryce Duke for an easy tap-in.

After the game Neville said (via 90min): “I think he knows he’s undroppable, I think he knows he’s in a rich vein of form and I keep telling him every single day, it’s his time. It’s his time.

“He is going to be a top player. We want him to go to the World Cup. That’s his goal, and he’s just gotta keep scoring and scoring.”
