PGMOL have just done something that will rub salt in Wolves’ wounds

There are feelings of anger and frustration once again today for Wolves fans, after yet another VAR fiasco cost Gary O’Neil’s side points in the Premier League – and now, the PGMOL have truly rubbed salt in the wounds.

Supporters are reeling today after last night’s 3-2 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage, which saw Fulham get two penalties and keep two men on the field when they should have been sent off.

Tom Cairney and Harry Wilson were ‘fouled’ by Nelson Semedo and Joao Gomes respectively, with the first penalty given by referee Michael Salisbury and the second given by VAR Stuart Attwell.

In between these penalty decisions, Fulham defender Tim Ream and striker Carlos Vinicius should both have been sent off. Vinicius was especially lucky following his clear headbutt on Max Kilman.

It was an absolutely horrendous performance from the officials – and the PGMOL have now just done something borderline insulting to Wolves…

Following such an awful showing, after which three of the key incidents were admitted to be errors, many Wolves fans had expected news of some kind of punishment for Salisbury and Attwell.

Recently, Anthony Taylor was demoted to the Championship for his mistake in giving Newcastle United a penalty for Hwang Hee-chan’s tangle with Fabian Schar.

Richard Keys suggested on X, formerly Twitter, that the duo would surely not be involved in any Premier League games this weekend.

But today, the officials have been chosen for the next round of Premier League fixtures.

As confirmed on the Premier League’s official website, Salisbury will be on VAR for the game between Newcastle United and Manchester United on Saturday night at St. James’ Park. On Sunday, he will then be the fourth official for Chelsea vs Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

Attwell will be the VAR for the Burnley-Sheffield United game on Saturday at Turf Moor, and he will then be the main referee for West Ham United vs Crystal Palace the following day at the London Stadium.

A slap in the face

It is genuinely incredible that Salisbury and Attwell have both been selected for Premier League matches this weekend after their farcical officiating of Fulham vs Wolves.

How is it possible that there can be an admission of three big decisions being wrong, but there is no kind of punishment whatsoever? Why do they get to continue as if nothing has happened?

Neither individual should be on duty this weekend.

It just goes to show that there is no accountability and that the PGMOL is a laughable organisation at present. There is so much at stake for Wolves, but clearly that doesn’t mean a single thing and massive mistakes just aren’t a big deal to them.
