Wolves picked up their second win of the season in the Premier League thanks to a game plan that was simply ‘perfection’ from Gary O’Neil, according to Alan Shearer.
Wanderers upset the odds with a huge victory at Molineux, beating the champions 2-1.
Pedro Neto forced an own goal from Ruben Dias, before Julian Alvarez scored a brilliant free-kick.
Hwang Hee-chan popped up with a winner though in the second-half.
It was a fantastic effort from Wolves, especially considering that awful defeat to Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup just days before.
The win was made possible thanks to great tactics from O’Neil, and Shearer was acknowledged the Wolves head coach this week…
Alan Shearer names Gary O’Neil as his Premier League Manager of the Week
Shearer has selected his Team of the Week, and there are two representatives from Wolves.
He’s picked Craig Dawson for his brilliant performance at the back and keeping Erling Haaland quiet.

And he also picked Pedro Neto, branding the winger ‘a constant problem’ to City’s full-backs.
But Shearer has also picked O’Neil as the manager of the team, saying of the 40-year-old (via Premier League): “His gameplan worked to perfection to produce a much-needed win against the champions.”
O’Neil threw Toti Gomes into his starting XI and made a back three with Craig Dawson and Max Kilman.
He also went with his fastest and hardest working frontline in Neto, Hwang and Matheus Cunha.
Wolves played aggressively, with Toti often stepping out to challenge Phil Foden.
And Kilman was on hand to deal with loose balls as Dawson engaged Haaland.
Gary Lineker also hailed O’Neil’s tactical set up at the weekend.
It was perfection from O’Neil, and other teams will have taken note
This was a statement performance and win for O’Neil.
There will be some bumps in the road this season. But he’s shown early doors that he has tactical acumen.
What he did against City was perhaps the only way to go about the game.

And it would be no surprise if other teams tried to play in the same way to try and get a result.
Too often, teams play City and simply look to defend for their lives to try and nick a point.
Wolves have shown they are not unbeatable by being brave and smart.
