People at Wolves adamant one thing has improved dramatically under Rob Edwards behind the scenes

Rob Edwards has not had the start at Wolves he was hoping for in terms of the results, but Liam Keen has shared one encouraging update.

Rob Edwards will take his seventh game as manager this weekend as Wolves take on Liverpool at Anfield – and he will be determined to halt his losing run.

It’s six defeats out of six so far, and that is disappointing – although there have been some signs of improvement.

Do you back Rob Edwards to increase Wolves’ goal output?

The message from him to his players in training is loud and clear 🗣️

Ultimately, while he perhaps might have done a bit better, Edwards is working with a squad that he had no say in constructing, and is widely viewed as one of the worst assembled in the Premier League.

He needs to get to January, so hopefully the squad will have more quality, more leaders and better balance by the end of the window. But given Wolves’ position, that could be very tricky.

But, while the results haven’t come yet, Edwards is impressing behind the scenes.

What has improved immensely at Wolves under Rob Edwards

In the final weeks of Vitor Pereira’s reign at Wolves, it was clear that all wasn’t well.

The over-spilling of emotions in front of the South Bank after the home defeat to Burnley suggested discontent.

And after Pereira’s sacking, Sam Johnstone claimed things had been ‘swept under the carpet’.

But Edwards has come in and seemingly, things are much better behind the scenes now, despite the club not yet getting back on track in terms of the results.

Liam Keen said on the E&S podcast: “I hope they do take notice of it (Doherty’s comments about cowardice) in the changing room. I do think Wolves are too nice.

“Now, the culture and everything I’m being told about the training ground is much better under Rob Edwards, which I’m being told by everyone. I’ve got no reason to not believe that. He’s a nice guy, people get on with him. I’ve got no reason to believe that people aren’t happy at the training ground. Everyone is telling me that’s the case, people I speak to at the club, they’re all telling me that’s the case.”

Wolves need to find some ruthlessness

It is encouraging that the dressing room seems to be in a good place despite poor results.

However, there is a notion here – that Liam Keen also touched on – that Wolves may actually be too nice.

Potentially, Wolves need to find a bit of ruthlessness if they are to improve their situation, both on and off the pitch.

Rob Edwards was adamant about taking the Wolves job when the club came calling

Wolves fans, was Edwards brave or foolish to take the job? 🤔

“I will not lie, it has been an aim of mine since I got the under 18s job. It is something I’ve always wanted to do.”

“The opportunity came along and it’s something I wanted to do. Sometimes in life you’ve got to look after you. It was difficult, but this place pulled me in.”

It’s tricky to strike the right balance. But if Wolves can somehow incorporate a bit of ruthlessness, then perhaps we’ll see a greater competitiveness and in turn, a better potential to pick up points in the Premier League.

Edwards was overheard asking for more ruthlessness in training, so perhaps eventually they will get there and it’s just a matter of time.
