Pedro Neto shares why Joao Moutinho used to annoy him at Wolves

Pedro Neto has sat down for a wide-ranging interview – and jokingly shared why Joao Moutinho actually used to annoy him at Wolves.

The currently injured winger is always great value when he speaks to journalists.

The 23-year-old is not only a brilliant player, but he also has a top personality.

Neto spoke to journalist Pedro Pinto and talked about his journey at Wolves so far, having joined the club from Lazio in the summer of 2019.

He arrived from Lazio in a double transfer deal with Bruno Jordao, and is currently Wolves’ best player.

He has been allowed to reach this level because of how hard he has worked, but he has also benefitted from playing with some top players – one of which is Joao Moutinho.

It is not lost on Neto how lucky he’s been to play with some top players at Molineux.

When he came in, there was a large Portuguese contingent, which undoubtedly allowed him to settle quite well.

One man who had arrived one year before Neto was Moutinho, now of SC Braga of course – and Neto lauded the veteran for his professionalism.

He also joked that he was actually so professional, it actually used to annoy him. He said: “The way I also learned from them. Players like Joao, right? He already had a great career, but still, every day, unbelievable, was always there working, boom boom. Sometimes he even annoyed you a bit because he’d say ‘You could have done this, you could have done that’, and you listened to him.

“Obviously you had to listen to his because of the years of experience he has in football. He has a lot to teach and I usually say what him and Ruben understand about football is unbelievable.”

Moutinho will have been brilliant for Neto

Moutinho has always been known for his brilliant professionalism, and he would have had a big influence on Neto at Wolves.

Former Wolves manager Bruno Lage once admitted that Moutinho actually used to have to be told to go inside at training, which tells you all you need to know about his dedication and mindset.

He was often praised by players for his work ethic during his five years at the club, and in the interview Neto also mentions him as one of his best friends in football.

One would imagine that several others would have learned a huge amount from sharing the field and the dressing room with him, and he is without doubt a legendary Portuguese player.
