Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto has reacted to Ruben Neves calling him the club’s best player this season.

The 21-year-old has been a shining light for the Black Country club this term, scoring five goals and making four assists so far.

The former Lazio and Braga youngster has really stepped up to the plate in the absence of Raul Jimenez.

Neto’s lively displays have led some to predict a potential Young Player of the Year nomination come the end of the season.

Neto’s contributions haven’t been lost on his teammates, with Neves recently branding him the best performer in old gold in 2020/21 (via Express & Star).

He’s now reacted to the comments, saying (Wolves official): “It means a lot. One of the best things in football is to be recognised, especially by your teammates, because that is the best feeling.

“That’s because they play too, they know what we are doing and they know what I do all day, so to hear Ruben say that was an unbelievable feeling.

“Even more because he’s an amazing player and I had no words to describe how I felt when he said that. I hope to continue to help my team, so they continue to recognise my game.”

Neto a team man

Neto is clearly a big team player.

This reaction to Neves’ comments indicates that he certainly plays for them.

Hopefully the likes of Neves sticking around and appreciating what Neto does will decrease the chances of him seeking an exit from the club this summer.

Teams are bound to come calling, but if he’s feeling the love from the fans, the manager and his teammates then he’ll likely want to stay put.
