Pedro Neto has warned Premier League defenders he will be back to his best this season for Wolves.
The 23-year-old last night starred for Wanderers in their 4-0 pre-season win over Deportivo Alaves.
Wanderers had a comfortable evening against the Spanish second tier side.
Raul Jimenez opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Neto was hacked down in the penalty area.
Neto then scored himself, latching onto a through ball from Morgan Gibbs-White and finished coolly into the far corner.
Further goals came from Daniel Podence and Maximilian Kilman, whose effort late on was particularly special.
Neto was certainly lively, which will be music to Wolves fans ears going into 2022/23.
Neto returned to action back in February, and spent the remaining months of the 2021/22 season building up his match fitness.
He told the Express & Star: “Honestly, I’m better than I thought.
“There were difficult times before but I finished the season well. I had more games than I was expecting and this summer I needed the break to get my knee back.
“I am improving a lot in my feelings, even in my freedom to play and my movements. The confidence is there and the personality that I have, I will do well this season. I will be back to my best and better.”
Pedro Neto looked very lively against Deportivo Alaves in big boost for Wolves
The performance of Neto last night was one of the biggest positives for Wolves.
Alaves were not great and did make life fairly easy for Wolves at times. But Neto still look sharp.
Him returning to his best for in 2022/23 could be key to Wolves building on last season’s 10th place finish.
Hopefully, he can keeping building in pre-season, and he’ll be a fine fettle going into that first game against Leeds United.
