Pedro Lima makes endearing admission about what ‘surprised’ him when he signed for Wolves

Many Wolves fans cannot wait to watch Pedro Lima in action this season.

The teenager is one of three new faces in the squad for 2024/25 so far, having joined the club from Sport Recife for around £8.5 million at the start of July.

Wolves had pipped Chelsea to the youngster, with a little help from Matheus Cunha.

In pre-season, Lima gave a really good account of himself, with his highlight probably coming in the win over West Ham United when he set up Rodrigo Gomes with a brilliant cross to the back post.

Lima has been bought to compete with Nelson Semedo at right-back, and fans already have the feeling that he could give the reigning Players’ Player of the Season a run for his money.

But Gary O’Neil has urged patience over Lima.

He recently only just turned 18, and the starlet has made some comments that are definitely a reminder of his tenders years.

Wolves have recently been releasing videos on their official YouTube channel featuring players for their series ‘My Firsts’ with JD.

The players answer a range of questions talking about their ‘firsts’ in life, such as their first pair of boots and the first time they asked a celebrity for a photo.

Jorgen Strand Larsen and Rodrigo have also filmed videos and earlier today Wolves released Lima’s video.

One of the first questions he is asked is what his first impressions were of Wolves upon signing for the club.

Lima, who joined from Sport Recife who play in the second tier in Brazil, admits that the sheer size of Wolves actually took him by surprise.

He said: “I was surprised when I first got here. I saw how massive the club actually was and I felt at home.

“I felt like I was at home and saw this as a new family.”

Lima then added that the first person he spoke to at Wolves was Cunha, who he says spoke with him and asked if he was joining.

Lima will be a great signing by Wolves

It is endearing to hear that the sheer size of Wolves caught Lima off guard when he first signed for the club.

But he will quickly get used to that – it’s good to hear that he immediately felt as though he was ‘at home’.

Lima has only just turned 18, and there are always potential difficulties for players that age coming to big clubs from overseas. But the Wolves dressing room is probably in the healthiest place it has been for some time, and it is packed with brilliant characters and personalities.

There are people in there, like Cunha, who are going to look after Lima and help him to grow as both a player and a person.

He has looked great so far, and Matt Hobbs said when he signed that Lima ‘has a real attitude to learning’ and ‘has a massive desire to be the best player he can be’.

With that said, it is hard to see how Lima won’t make a real success of his move to Molineux.
