Wolves winger Pedro Neto has enjoyed a tremendous season so far – and Paul Merson has noticed something different about his game these days.
The Portuguese winger has been arguably Wolves’ best player this term, and one of the best players in the whole Premier League.
He’s had a string of tremendous performances and has scored three goals and laid on 11 assists so far in 22 games.
The 23-year-old did have a frustrating couple of months around the festive period when he was on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. And at the moment, he is seemingly touch-and-go to face Fulham after coming off at half-time against Newcastle with tightness in his hamstring.
But when Neto has played, he’s always stood out – and Merson reckons one thing about his game has changed…
Paul Merson claims Pedro Neto is not as ‘greedy’ as he used to be for Wolves

Neto has been a major success story this season under Gary O’Neil.
The manager has come in and improved everyone, but Neto seems to have gone to another level, and his 14 goal contributions are the most he’s made in a single season for Wolves since he came to the club.
His 11 assists certainly indicate that Neto is getting his head up and picking the right balls in the final third more often.
In the eyes of Merson, Neto wasn’t doing this as much before and was more ‘greedy’.
He said (Sportskeeda): “Pedro Neto is a player I’ve spoken about countless times this season. He’s a fantastic talent. He could play for any team in world football including Manchester City, I can’t see him staying at Wolves beyond the end of the season.
“Before his injury, I thought he was a bit greedy, but he’s come back an even better player and is making the right decision more often than not.”
Merson is right
Neto can sometimes still be guilty of being ‘greedy’, but when you have the ability that he does, it’s little wonder he chooses to hold onto the ball a bit longer than maybe he should.
But by and large, Neto is picking the right options more often these days.
He is certainly not as ‘greedy’ with the ball as he used to be and he is definitely a more mature player.
That is natural as young players get older and play more games, and Neto will continue to improve his end product even further.
11 assists so far this season is amazing, and definitely showcases the fact he is more selfless.
