Paul Merson slams ‘bad’ VAR decisions and predicts winner of Arsenal v Wolves

Paul Merson has slammed VAR as he predicts Wolves’ game this weekend against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Wolves will look to get back to winning ways this weekend when they face Arsenal but the league leaders could prove a formidable task.

This follows Monday’s 3-2 loss to Fulham for the Molineux side. Although in that defeat ultimately they were extremely unlucky with a series of harsh refereeing decisions proving costly.

Wolves will be confident ahead of facing a team in the top four, given the wins over both Manchester City and Spurs in recent weeks.

However, they will be sorely thin in midfield with both Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes absent through suspension.

Now, Paul Merson has been predicting this weekend’s set of fixtures.

Merson on Arsenal v Wolves

Writing in his weekly SportsKeeda predictions article, Paul Merson has predicted Wolves’ trip to The Emirates.

He began with some praise for Wolves before slamming VAR: “Wolves should be a lot higher up the Premier League table if it weren’t for bad VAR decisions.”

Continuing, Merson admitted Arsenal should be wary ahead of this game, “If I was an Arsenal fan, I’d be happy to just win this difficult game somehow and get it out of the way. Gary O’Neil’s side is not easy to play against.”

When looking at Arsenal, Merson tipped Declan Rice as the dangerman, and this is even more worrying considering Wolves’ suspensions in midfield.

“But Arsenal have enough quality to get the better of them. Declan Rice has been absolutely brilliant for Arsenal. He will be key here again.

“This will be a hard-fought game but I’m going to go with Arsenal here.”

He ended with a prediction of Arsenal winning 3-1, but that won’t deter any Wolves fan from believing three points is possible.

Wolves can beat Arsenal, but one man needs to be on top form

If Wolves are to beat Arsenal, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde will be vital. He showed against Spurs that he can pick up the ball deep and drive forward.

With the two starting midfielders out, Bellegarde will be vital in holding up the ball and turning defence into attack.

Bellegarde has also shown his excellent creativity and finishing in recent games, mainly his wondergoal against Sheffield United.

But he is our pick to be the key man for Wolves.
