Wolves welcome Bournemouth to Molineux on Saturday and are searching for a third straight win in the Premier League – and Paul Merson has hailed the club’s appointment of Julen Lopetegui.
Julen Lopetegui’s side are doing well at the moment, after beating Liverpool and Southampton.
Wanderers are looking much more solid defensively. And goals are flowing a bit more now, which is really positive.
The comeback win against Southampton was huge, especially after Wolves saw Mario Lemina sent off in the first-half.
Lopetegui will be considering how best to replace the 29-year-old, who has been superb since coming in from Nice.
Bournemouth have really been struggling in recent weeks and are currently second-bottom in the league table.
But the Cherries held Wolves in the reverse fixture back in August, and will feel capable of taking points at Molineux.
But Wolves are in a much better way since that previous meeting. Lopetegui has come in and breathed new life into the team.
Merson has been casting his eye over this weekend’s Premier League fixtures. And he reckons Wolves will make it a third consecutive win.
Predicting a 2-0 win, he said (Sportskeeda): “Wolves are a good team, and I think they’re in a false position. Julen Lopetegui is a top manager, and it’s unbelievable that Wolves have managed to appoint a manager like him.
“I think Wolves will be safe if they win this game, and I don’t think they’ll go down anyway. Bournemouth did well the other day but will have their work cut out for them. Wolves are a dangerous team to play against and can beat anybody on their day.”
Wolves are very lucky to have Julen Lopetegui as their manager, as Paul Merson makes score predictions vs Bournemouth
It is amazing to think Wolves are managed by someone of Lopetegui’s ilk.
He’s managed at the highest level, and there are many players on record as saying how much they enjoyed working with him.
He’s had a transformative effect on the club since he came in, and it’s exciting to think about where things could go.
But there’s still a lot of work to be done this season.
Bournemouth are scrapping for their Premier League lives and will want to cause on upset.
