Paul Merson makes prediction for Chelsea vs Wolves

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has made his prediction for Saturday’s game between Chelsea and Wolves.

Wanderers are looking to respond after a dismal past few weeks in the Premier League.

Bruno Lage’s side have lost each of their last three games 1-0, and turned in some awful performances.

The collective display against Brighton last weekend was perhaps the worst all season, and it is alarming to see how standards have slipped while European football remains a possibility.

Somehow, Wolves remain within touching distance of the top seven.

Saturday’s game against Chelsea could be very difficult.

The Blues did lose against Everton last time out though. But Thomas Tuchel will be expecting a big response to that shock defeat.

And Sky pundit Merson reckons the Blues will deliver one.

Predicting a 3-0 win for Chelsea, he said in his preview of the game for Sportskeeda: “Wolves have literally hit a brick wall and their Premier League season has fizzled out a little bit.

“They were atrocious against Brighton last time around, so I expect Chelsea to win this one rather comfortably.”

Earlier this season, Wolves did hold Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Given the vulnerability of the defence against Brighton, it will be some achievement to achieve another clean sheet on Saturday.

Wolves up against it to beat Chelsea, as Paul Merson predicts comfortable Blues win

Wolves have a serious job on to take points off Chelsea this weekend.

Things have really gone flat at Molineux in the last few weeks, and the performance against Brighton was very worrying.

It will be interesting to see how Lage sets up.

It’s very possible he will seek a strong defensive performance and try to hit the Blues on the counter.

What would be nice though, is to see Wolves try and play the way they did right at the start of the season.

One would suspect though, that won’t be the case in a difficult away game.
