Paul Merson makes prediction ahead of Wolves vs Tottenham

Paul Merson believes if Wolves had Harry Kane, there would be no doubt about how this weekend’s game with Tottenham Hotspur would end.

Wolves are looking to bounce back after losing 2-0 to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Wolves had the chance to move clear of the relegation zone, but turned in a really poor performance at Anfield.

Julen Lopetegui will be looking for a big response at Molineux.

It is now three Premier League games without a win for Wolves and it is important for the club to get back on track.

It will not be an easy game on Saturday.

Spurs are pushing to finish in the top four and will fancy their chances of heaping more misery on Wanderers.

The north London side won the reverse fixture back in August, and will feel they can do the double.

But they don’t have Antonio Conte on the touchline at the moment, which could be significant.

Pundit Merson has been casting his eye over the weekend’s Premier League fixtures, and believes the game will end all square.

He suggests Wolves would easily win if the team had a top quality striker like Kane.

But since they do not, he has predicted a 1-1 draw. He said (Sportskeeda): “Wolves had a shocking result at home on 18 February, losing at home to Bournemouth. Then they went and drew with Fulham at Craven Cottage. They are a better team than most people think. If Harry Kane was playing for Wolves, there’d be no doubt about this result.

“But as that’s not the case, I believe Wolves will be able to eke out a point from this one. For me, Spurs are still the favorites to finish at fourth this season.”

Kane got the winner in the 1-0 result in the last meeting. That day, his status as a world-class striker proved to be the difference, with Wolves very wasteful in front of goal.

Wolves must respond to that awful performance against Liverpool at Molineux for Tottenham visit

Wolves have the capacity to win this game but they will need to be miles better than they were against Liverpool.

Spurs can be got at, and have conceded the most goals off the current top 10.

The big issue of course, though, is that Wolves are very toothless.

But the players need to find a way against Spurs or risk being fully dragged into that relegation battle.

It wasn’t good enough against Liverpool and a big response is needed.
