Paul Merson has given his verdict on Wolves’ chances of survival and what they must do to achieve it.
The Old Gold are set to face Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night, and with Wolves on a six-game losing streak, they could match a terrible Terry Connor record.
Morgan Gibbs-White returning to Molineux will be another topic on the menu, certainly after what he did the last time this fixture came around.
Former Wanderer Morgan Gibbs-White punished Wolves last time around…
For many, Wolves are already looking at the Championship next season, but Paul Merson has now delivered his prediction for the Nottingham Forest clash and warns Rob Edwards how many points he needs before Christmas for survival to still be possible.
Paul Merson believes Wolves need ten points in their next four games

Paul Merson still believes Wolves can survive relegation, but only if their results over the next few weeks start changing.
There have been signs that an upturn in form is coming for the Old Gold, but they still need to sort out their goalscoring woes.
However, the former footballer turned pundit does not expect Edwards to turn things around, mainly due to their quality.
In his Sportskeeda column, Merson said, “This is a cup final for Wolves, and they need to win. Rob Edwards is already up against it in the battle to avoid relegation, but this is a game they will look at and think they can win.
“After this game, Wolves are up against Manchester United and Arsenal, which are not fixtures they are expected to get anything out of!
“Wolves need to win this game and probably get 10 points in their next four matches to have any chance of avoiding relegation. Things have to change quickly for them, but I just can’t see them winning matches due to a lack of quality.”
While Merson does not see the Old Gold getting a win, he has predicted them to get a point in a 1-1 draw.
Four of the six Premier League meetings between Wolves and Nottingham Forest have been drawn, with each side winning once each.

In reality, Merson is correct, and a draw against the Tricky Trees will not do much for their survival prospects.
And when it comes to picking up the rest of the points he suggests, that is an even tougher ask.

Wolves’ next four matches do not offer much hope
Over the next few weeks, Wolves have some difficult fixtures; however, the fact that three out of four are at Molineux is a positive.
Nottingham Forest will no doubt be a tough test, with Sean Dyche making them a more resilient side at the back since coming in.
They recently picked up an impressive 3-0 win at Anfield.

Manchester United have been enjoying a good run of results lately. They have picked up 14 points from a possible 21 in their last seven games.
Of course, Arsenal are flying at the top of the Premier League table, and Keith Andrews’ Brentford have also been on a good run of games with four wins in their last seven matches.
Rob Edwards has a big challenge ahead.
