Pundit Paul Merson believes Wolves are now ‘a good team’ that other clubs will feel pleased about beating.
Gary O’Neil has enjoyed a decent start to life at Molineux having come in at a very late stage just before the start of the campaign.
Everything pointed to him and Wolves really struggling – but that has not been the case so far.
Wolves currently have 15 points from 14 games, which is a good return considering there have been some difficult fixtures in there.
And actually, Wolves would probably be much higher up the table if the level of officiating had been up to the required standard. The two penalty decisions at Craven Cottage and non-red cards last week were the latest to get Wolves fans’ backs up.
But Wolves have impressed people this term, including Paul Merson – who has now made his score prediction for tonight’s game against Burnley…
Paul Merson believes Wolves have become a team other clubs will take pride in beating

One of the best things O’Neil has done at Wolves since coming in is restore a competitive streak in the players.
Everyone has looked rejuvenated this season, and these players look like they want to run through brick walls for the new manager.
O’Neil has also proven his tactical prowess, masterminding wins over the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
Merson has liked what he has seen in recent weeks from Wolves, and has now suggested other clubs would see beating them as a really good result.
He said (Sportskeeda): “I thought Wolves did all right against Arsenal. They got blown away in the first 15 minutes when Arsenal were amazing, but they held their own and stuck in there. They’re a good team and have joined the likes of Brighton and Brentford – if you beat them, it’s a great result.”
Wolves will be looking to get back to winning ways tonight against Burnley, and Merson believes that will happen at Molineux. Predicting a 2-0 home win, he added: “I think Wolves should be a lot higher up in the league table, and I’m backing them to win this game.”
People are starting to notice Wolves
In the first few weeks of the season, Merson was regularly predicting Wolves to lose games and did not seem to rate the team.
His feelings about the club were probably shared by many, as O’Neil sought to stabilise the situation following the departure of Julen Lopetegui.
But people are now starting to view Wolves in a different light. The club may only be sat in 13th place, but many have now realised that this is a bit of a false position, with Wanderers having gotten incredibly unlucky with some VAR decisions.
Wolves, under O’Neil, have been showing that they are a competitive outfit once again, and certainly, other managers are going to be very pleased to take points in games against them.
