Paul Merson brutally predicts Newcastle United to batter Wolves this weekend

Paul Merson has given his prediction for Newcastle vs Wolves, and the pundit only sees one outcome happening.

Vitor Pereira’s side play the Geordies away from home, and Wolves will be looking to avoid unwanted history being made on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Newcastle, like Wolves, will be looking to pick up their first win of the season.

Both teams have new strikers at the club, and fans will be eager to see them in action. With Jorgen Strand Larsen’s fitness unknown, Tolu Arokodare could be in line to start.

Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade are both in contention for Newcastle, and no matter if one or both play, Paul Merson believes only one result can happen.

Paul Merson cannot see Wolves getting a result against Newcastle

Wolves fans will not like what Paul Merson has predicted for the game against Newcastle, as he has given the Old Gold no chance of getting a result.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s fixtures, Paul Merson has predicted a 3-0 win for Newcastle vs Wolves.

In backing up his prediction, the pundit says, ‘I can’t see anything but a Newcastle win here. Wolves are really struggling at the moment. I know Newcastle haven’t been ripping it up either, but this is a great fixture for them to get back on track.’

The pundit believes that Newcastle’s latest arrival Nick Woltemade will be the big threat for them saying, ‘Eddie Howe has to start with Nick Woltemade, if not both him and Yoane Wissa together.’

The German is a physically imposing forward, and the Wolves defence will have their hands full to deal with him.

At 6’6″, the Old Gold backline will need to be careful of the German.

Wolves defence will need to be on form against Nick Woltemade

Wolves have some tall defenders, but none quite as tall as Nick Woltemade, and that means they’ll need their most aerially dominant players to start.

Vitor Pereira will have some decisions to make at the back, and Emmanuel Agbadou is one of them.

The Ivorian has been far from his best, and when it comes to battling in the air, he has struggled quite a lot.

Of the Wolves centre-backs this season in the Premier League, Agbadou’s aerial duel success is the lowest by quite a bit.

Agbadou has only won 46.15% of all aerial duels he has contested, compared to Toti Gomes’ 66.6% and Matt Doherty’s 72.73%.

If they want to deal properly with the physical presence, then Ladislav Krejci taking Agbadou’s spot could be the wisest change.
