Wolves are looking to cause a big upset this weekend as Liverpool come to Molineux.
Gary O’Neil is desperate for a win after overseeing four defeats in the first five outings in the Premier League.
Wolves also crashed out of the Carabao Cup to Brighton.
Beating Liverpool will be a big ask. But Wolves have shown positive signs despite their tough start and it was around this time last season that Wanderers clicked into gear.
O’Neil changed the formation against Manchester City and masterminded a 2-1 win, and it’s possible he could be thinking about repeating that tactic this weekend.
One man who isn’t expecting too much of Wolves this weekend though is Paul Merson.
Paul Merson makes prediction for Wolves v Liverpool as he drops ‘funny’ verdict

Wolves need to find a way to get at least a point on Saturday.
It’s going to be a big ask, but the fact the game is at Molineux might mean there is a small chance.
Losing Yerson Mosquera to injury is a big blow. But O’Neil might think about using Craig Dawson, Santi Bueno and Toti Gomes in a back three, in an attempt to solidify his backline.
Andy Thompson said after the defeat to Aston Villa that Wolves need to become more ‘horrible’ in games and it will be interesting to see whether O’Neil will look to go down that route, rather than trying to fight fire with fire.
Paul Merson has been casting his eye over the weekend fixtures. For him, there will only be one winner at Molineux.
Predicting a 3-1 away win for Liverpool, he told Sportskeeda: “Wolves are a funny team. I thought they played well against Newcastle, scored a worldie and ended up losing in the end.
“They must get a win quickly, but I can’t see anything apart from a Liverpool win here.”
Merson adds that he thinks it will be an open game and that O’Neil will set Wolves up to ‘have a go’.
Wolves must believe in themselves
It doesn’t get any easier for Wolves as Liverpool come to Molineux under new manager Arne Slot.
Wolves are in awful form at the moment, but all the expectation here is on Liverpool to win. This could help the players.
There have genuinely been some good signs in parts of Wolves’ season so far.
There has been an attacking threat which is encouraging. Most of the issues have come at the back and if O’Neil can get it right there then there will be a chance.
