Paul Merson has now delivered his verdict on Wolves’ chances against Manchester United.
Tuesday’s game looks to be much different than the fixture back in early December. Wolves have some injury concerns; meanwhile, Manchester United will be without many key players.
Opta have given the Old Gold only a slim chance at picking up three points, as the Wanderers extending their losing streak to 12 games looks like the likely outcome.
However, Rob Edwards will be encouraged by Wolves’ second-half performance against Liverpool, and he can use that to inspire something special.
Defensive crisis at Wolves, as options seem slim. If you were Rob Edwards, what would be your solution?
Injuries to Bellegarde, and Munetsi also cut down Wolves' midfield choices too…
Paul Merson predicts the score as Wolves travel to Old Trafford

Paul Merson has returned to give his prediction for Wolves’ away trip against Manchester United.
There have been few times the former Arsenal midfielder has been kind to the Old Gold in his previews, and it seems that is not going to change.
Wolves head into the game as massive underdogs, but Paul Merson is adamant that they have no chance of winning.
Merson said (via Sportskeeda), “It’s only a matter of when Manchester United will break down Wolves. I don’t see the visitors winning at Old Trafford. I can’t believe Manchester United beat Newcastle though!
“I’m not sure Ruben Amorim’s men deserved the three points. United were good in the first half but were completely out of it in the second forty-five. However, I’d be shocked if they didn’t beat Wolves.
“United have quite a few players missing through injury and AFCON duty but they will have enough to get the better of their opponents here. Wolves have shown some fight in their last couple of away games, which is a positive. But no chance for them in this one!”
What way do you see Wolves’ trip to Old Trafford going?
The pundit has been kind enough to predict Wolves to score, as he has predicted a 3-1 win for the home side.
Rob Edwards’ starting XI will be interesting, as he has plenty of headaches to deal with.
However, Mateus Mane could offer a route to goal for the Old Gold, after months of struggling in the final third.
Wolves do not end years well
If Wolves want to avoid extending their streak, as Paul Merson expects them to do, they will have to overcome history.
The Old Gold typically struggle to perform in the final match of the year, as previous results tell the story.
Wolves have won their final league game in just one of the last six calendar years, drawn two, and lost three, with them beating Everton 3-0 in 2023.
There have been plenty of negative records set by the Wanderers this season, but maybe they can finally look past another and give some much-needed positivity.
