Wolves were one of the busiest clubs through the January transfer window, and despite the window being closed in England, the Old Gold could still complete one more deal.
Wolves announced Emmanuel Agbadou at the beginning of the window. Vitor Pereira also signed Nasser Djiga and Marshall Munetsi on Deadline Day.
Wolves’ January spending totalled £42.6 million and made them the Premier League’s second-biggest spenders behind champions Manchester City.
However, although incomings have dominated the Old Gold’s business, the club are on the verge of letting one player leave.
Fans react to Mario Lemina’s updated social media
Mario Lemina emerged as a target for Al Shabab and became unsettled as a result. The midfielder even refused to play while the Saudi club considered making an offer.
An agreement was never reached and Al Shabab ended up signing Glen Kamara instead of Lemina, but the midfielder is still set to leave the Midlands.
Despite Lemina holding talks with Torino earlier in the window, he will return to Galatasaray. The Turkish club are finalising their agreement with Wolves before confirming the Gabon international has returned to RAMS Park.
Ahead of the announcement, Lemina has updated his social media profile’s bio, to say: “Write your own futur [sic]. Loading…” and tagged the official Galatasaray account. He also included a punching emoji.
And fans have wasted no time reacting to their former captain’s new profile.
Sad ending
Lemina’s impending move back to Turkey will end a two year spell with Wolves.
The midfielder joined from Nice in 2023 and went on to feature in 77 matches in all competitions. His transfer to Molineux signalled a good piece of business at the time.
Things have now turned sour though, and Lemina will no longer be remembered as an important player. Instead, his departure will be viewed as long overdue.
No fan wants a player representing their club when they refuse to play — especially when the side is embroiled in a tough relegation battle.
