Pablo Sarabia is off the mark for Wolves, after he scored in the 1-1 draw with Fulham on Friday night.
Julen Lopetegui’s side took a point back to Molineux with a decent performance against a good team.
Following the shock defeat to Bournemouth, it was very important that Wolves did not suffer another loss.
Wolves put in a really good first-half display and took the lead through Sarabia on 23 minutes.
Matheus Nunes crossed to the back post, and Raul Jimenez brilliantly flicked a header backwards into the path of Sarabia, who provided a lovely controlled finish into the far corner.
Wanderers moved the ball around well and showed more attacking intent than their opponents.
But the visitors got back on level terms in the second-half, following an injury to Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian went off on a stretcher, and the club will likely soon provide an update.
Manor Solomon scored for Fulham, cutting inside and unleashing an unstoppable effort into the far corner.
Fulham had control of the game after the equaliser, and Jose Sa produced a fine save late on to keep things level. Lopetegui will be pleased to have come away with a point in the end.
Given Fulham’s form, it’s a decent result for Wolves.
And it was good to see Sarabia getting on the scoresheet in a Wolves shirt for the first time.
He has come to the club with a reputation for being a goalscoring attacking midfielder, and someone who provides assists.
He’s been getting a feel for things in recent games, and hopefully now following his first goal we will see him become a key player in this Wolves team.
On Saturday, Sarabia took to social media to send a message after opening his account.
He said: “Managed to get a point in a historic stadium. Happy with the first goal wearing this shirt. Let’s go Wolves! We keep on fighting.”
