Pablo Sarabia just did something incredibly rare against Man United, it’s only happened once before

Wolves secured a fantastic 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, and the winning goal came from an unlikely source.

The game was heading towards a 0-0 stalemate before Pablo Sarabia scored a stunning free-kick in the second half, moments after coming off the bench.

Sarabia is making a habit out of starring late in matches, as the Spaniard scored and assisted Jorgen Strand Larsen in Wolves’ thrilling comeback win over Ipswich Town.

Wolves fans ordered a new contract for Sarabia after his latest involvement, although given he turns 33 in May and is on huge wages, the chance of a new deal is slim.

But, if he does depart Molineux this summer, he will leave with an incredibly rare accolade, something that has only been done once before.

Pablo Sarabia scored only the second match-winning free-kick against Man United at Old Trafford

Just when the game needed a moment of quality, Sarabia was able to produce it with his wand of a left foot, beating Andre Onana all ends up.

As pointed out by Opta after full-time, the Wolves winger became only the second visiting player at Old Trafford to score a match-winning free-kick in the Premier League, after Danny Murphy for Liverpool in December 2000.

It was an incredible moment for the player and the travelling fans who sang loud and proud from the away end, with that free kick sparking scenes of jubilation.

Sarabia made a dig at Gary O’Neil in his post-match comments, praising how much Vitor Pereira has changed the spirit and belief of the football club.

Wolves are now mathematically safe from relegation, and a run of positive results in their final five matches could see them finish as high as 11th.

Sarabia is set for the exit door at Wolves

Sarabia is a wonderful footballer, and his ability to produce moments of brilliance is something that will be missed next season.

That is because Sarabia is likely to leave Wolves with his contract expiring in June, and there’s strong interest from elsewhere.

Celta Vigo want to sign Sarabia, who has ambitions of returning to the Spanish national team, while clubs from Saudi Arabia and the MLS could be fighting to capture him.

Of course, after the 32-year-old silence the majority inside Old Trafford, the natural response from fans was to keep him.

But, Sarabia is said to be on ‘eye-watering’ money, so it makes financial sense to let him leave on a free transfer, even if it’s going to be difficult decision.
