The Wolverhampton Wanderers U23s have given fans a reason to cheer up a bit, following shambles that was the first-team’s performance against Burnley yesterday.
James Collins’ side ran out 3-1 winners against Norwich City at Aggborough, with Luke Cundle, Owen Hesketh and Jack Scott getting the goals.
It was a great day at the office for the youngsters, with the club’s official match report describing it as ‘one of their most accomplished performances of the season’.
The result has strengthened the team’s grip on a play-off place to gain promotion into Division 1 of PL2.
Back in the side for the first time in a while was Owen Otasowie.
The USA international has had a testing 2021 so far in terms of getting minutes for the first-team.
He’s made just two cameo appearances this calendar year, and has clocked up five appearances in total after making his debut against Chelsea in December.
Unfortunately Nuno has been unwilling to afford him any real chances, and so Otasowie was back involved with the U23s today.
The 20-year-old was superb in a box-to-box role and had Canaries defenders quaking when surging forwards with the ball.
Had his finishing been better, he might actually have had a hat-trick.
It was certainly the performance of someone perhaps looking to make his manager sit up and take note.
With just five games remaining in the Premier League, it would be great to sign Nuno just take a chance on the talented dynamo.
Watching the U23s again and it is absolutely apparent that Owen Otasowie is well beyond this level.
Anytime he gets into his stride they just can’t cope with him. Should have had a goal too. Would add a different dimension to Wolves’ midfield.

Nuno must be seething watching the u23’s lads today.
We’re stroking the ball about, Otasowie’s Yaya Toure-like runs are joyful, and we’re creating and taking chances – that’ll never do!
Infact they look so confident I’m wondering if they’ve been playing our first team!🤣 #wwfc
