If Rob Edwards does indeed take the job at Wolves, Owen Hargreaves has laid out clearly what needs to be done.
Wolves fans are in limbo to some extent, having seen enough to know who will be taking sideline duties at Molineux after the international break, but still awaiting confirmation.
Things escalated when it emerged that Middlesbrough are accusing Wolves of misconduct in their pursuit of Edwards.
Despite the drama, it looks like a matter of when, not if, especially after Middlesbrough released a statement granting him permission to speak to Wolves. It will be a tough new challenge for Edwards attempting to drag Wolves out of the relegation zone, but Hargreaves thinks he has what it takes.
Owen Hargreaves backs Rob Edwards to turn Wolves around
You couldn’t say Hargreaves has much experience in relegation scraps. His club career was split between Bayern Munich and Manchester United, so things were peachy for the most part.
But he reckons Edwards will be well able for a battle at the bottom, if he can get the players believing.
Previewing the weekend’s Premier League action on TNT Sports, Hargreaves brings up the soon-to-be Wolves boss, and the task that faces him should he land at Molineux.

He says: “Yeah, he did a brilliant job at Luton, but that’s a tough job. They have a few issues. The defence doesn’t look settled and they’re not scoring.
“But a guy like Rob, he gets it, and he can go in there and galvanise the group.”
A stamp of approval from a two-time Champions League winner.
Edwards will need January reinforcements at Wolves
Wolves already tried to poach someone from Middlesbrough over the summer, and now, Edwards’ arrival could lure Hayden Hackney to Molineux.

The midfield needs to be strengthened and Hackney would be a brilliant acquisition.
But Wolves will need more. Namely, another attacker. If they are going to pay Middlesbrough whatever compensation is needed to pry Edwards from their clutches, there’s no point pinching pennies then in the window.
If this is to be a long-term success, Edwards will have to galvanise the group as Hargreaves points out, but he will also need full backing from the club.
