Opta supercomputer has already given Wolves their chance of a win against Sunderland

The Opta supercomputer has given an early prediction ahead of Sunderland vs Wolves, as the Old Gold search for their first win of the season.

Former Wanderer Matt Jarvis believes Wolves must get a result against the Black Cats, as the prospect of relegation looms closer.

The club are sitting rock bottom of the Premier League, and their opposition are in high-flying form since making the jump from the Championship.

Unfortunately for the Old Gold, they have not been given a big chance for their first win.

The home side have been given the title of favourites, with them winning in 40.4% of all simulations, and the Wanderers only getting 33%.

The prospect of a draw is the lowest likelihood based on the simulations, with 26.6% of them having the two sides hold each other to just a point.

Not all hope is lost for Wolves, as against Brighton, the supercomputer had a draw being the unlikeliest outcome, so hopefully the club can prove it wrong once again by getting a win.

Football’s data powerhouse has not been kind to the Old Gold this season. While the supercomputer predicted Wolves to survive the drop, it has also recently changed its prediction for the Molineux side.

Anything but a win would be a disaster for Wolves

Panic mode will certainly grow stronger the longer Wolves go without a win.

Three points against the Black Cats is an absolute must, as a win at the Stadium of Light could swing the pendulum back in Pereira’s favour.

The next two games are against recently promoted opposition, and if they can come out of those matches with all six points, having eight points on the board would certainly not be a disaster at this stage.

A loss cannot happen, and the pressure that would build could make things toxic around Molineux.

Recent performances have been improved, so there is optimism they can take all the spoils on Saturday.
