Opta supercomputer changes Wolves prediction just three games into Premier League season

Wolves’ start to the season has not gone as hoped or expected, and the Opta supercomputer has now changed its prediction.

The Old Gold are languishing bottom of the Premier League after three games, and they are the only side not to have picked up any points.

Earlier in the season, the Opta supercomputer gave its verdict on Vitor Pereira’s side, and had them surviving relegation.

These predictions were made before the season had started and before Wolves had finalised their transfer business.

Since then, Ladislav Krejci, Tolu Arokodare, and Jackson Tchatchoua have arrived, and the Opta supercomputer has updated its predictions.

Wolves are now predicted to be relegated by the Opta supercomputer

Many pundits had Wolves predicted to go down, but Opta’s AI algorithm still had hope for the Old Gold.

Wolves were originally predicted to finish 17th with a projection of 42.5 points, and had just a 26.4% chance of going down.

However, after three losses in three games, the prediction has changed.

Opta now have Wolves projected to finish 18th in the Premier League with a points projection of 36.92. They have the Old Gold as 48.08% likely to go down.

Taking Wolves’ place as surviving are Leeds United, who are projected at 38.76 points and a 40.95% chance of relegation.

There is still time for Wolves to turn things around, and football is not played on computers.

A big result at the weekend could change the momentum for the Old Gold, and the supercomputer may have to revert its prediction.

A Wolves win against Newcastle could change their fortunes

Although it is unlikely, and Newcastle are the heavy favourites, if Wolves are able to pick up a win against the Toon, Pereira’s side’s season could turn around yet.

Newcastle have struggled to score goals this season, with two of their games ending in 0-0 draws.

Of course, this was due to the lack of a traditional striker, and Gordon and Jacob Murphy playing those roles.

The Geordies have secured Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa, but after being on international duty, they’ll have had little time to train with their new team.

This could give Wolves a chance of snatching a result, whether that is a win or a draw.

The two new signings for Newcastle may take time to settle in, and that could be one major advantage for Vitor Pereira.
