What Wolves fans did for Andre and Joao Gomes against Fulham was very telling

Wolves’ loss to Fulham was far from ideal, and it has left any potential route to Premier League safety looking closed off.

A winless run of ten games has left the Old Gold at the bottom of the Premier League. In fact, Wolves are the first side to go winless in the opening ten games in consecutive seasons.

Outsiders, such as Alan Shearer, fear the worst for the Wanderers, and the fan perception will not be much different right now.

When the players and manager went to applaud the travelling support on Saturday, what they did was very telling, as just two players got a good reception.

Despite losing, the travelling support were in excellent form, and they were constantly singing throughout the match.

The Old Gold fans sprang into song for multiple players, and many were from the past, including renditions of ‘Si Senor’ and even a song for Patrick Cutrone at one point.

However, what they did at the full-time whistle was very telling when Vitor Pereira and members of the Wolves squad went over to applaud them for their support.

A chorus of boos and ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ was chanted as the head coach made his way over to the stand.

However, when Andre and Joao Gomes came over to applaud, they were the only ones who were met with a good reception.

Fans were no doubt left unamused when their head coach opted to drop both of the Brazilians.

Pereira gave his reason for the decision, but truthfully it did not make much sense given the quality the pair offer.

Early first-half chants confirmed fans’ confusion, and the Old Gold ultimately paid the price in defeat.

You need to play your best players when you need a win

Wolves needed to win, and dropping two of your better players in such an important match was strange.

It almost certainly seems that Vitor Pereira has run out of ideas, and his last roll of the dice was not one that paid off.

If the head coach makes it to Saturday in charge against Chelsea, that will be a decision he surely won’t make again. However, right now, you would not put it past him.

Pereira’s constant talk of ‘solutions’ has seemingly left him second-guessing every decision, and his choices over the last few weeks have been odd.
