One surprise figure who Wolves stars love has really helped Yerson Mosquera settle at Molineux

Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera has one unexpected figure to thank for being able to settle at Molineux.

The summer has seen a lot of change happen at Molineux as Gary O’Neil prepares for his second season in charge of Wolves.

From new signings to new tactics, the manager is looking to shake things up in his squad.

One area that will almost certainly see changes happen is the subject of Wolves’ returning loan players, with Yerson Mosquera poised to play a big part in the campaign ahead.

The role Wolves’ head chef played in helping Yerson Mosquera settle in England

Still only 23, Mosquera is in line to play a significant role in O’Neil’s backline this year.

The Colombian impressed during a loan spell at Villarreal last term and is now prepared to call Molineux his home once more.

A detailed column courtesy of The Athletic revealed one figure in particular who has helped the 2001-born ace settle in the Midlands.

Thousands of people work tirelessly behind the scenes at football clubs all over the world, with Wolves’ Head Chef Melissa Forde being a huge part of the squad’s success.

The Athletic describe Forde as being a person who has ‘won over’ the players, with her impact on Mosquera celebrated.

‘She [Forde] has won over the Wolves playing squad by creating dishes familiar to their Portuguese background.

‘In the case of Yerson Mosquera, the Colombian defender, he experienced homesickness when he moved to the club and she went out of her way to find ingredients from his own country to lift his spirits.’

It’s heartwarming to learn of the effort figures such as Forde put in behind the scenes to make the players more comfortable, with her nature towards Mosquera being something that could prove to be vital.

Mosquera could be huge for Wolves this season

After excelling at Villarreal, there was some anxiety at the start of the summer as the Spanish side was keen to sign Mosquera permanently.

Instead, it looks as though the Colombian will be a starter in O’Neil’s defence for the season ahead, pairing particularly well with Toti Gomes throughout pre-season.

Wolves’ decision to loan Mosquera to a league as demanding as LaLiga last season may have been a masterclass move by the club, as the player has returned ready to dominate in the first team.

Now that the dust has settled between the defender and Villarreal links, it’s refreshing to learn that Wolves are doing all they can to make the 23-year-old comfortable back in England.
