As Wolves prepare for the run-in, there is a potential that Sam Johnstone may have already played his final game for Wolves.
Wolves take on West Ham United tomorrow night, and are looking to cut the gap to safety to 10 points.
But one man who won’t be featuring is Johnstone.
Because Rob Edwards stated at his press conference today that the goalkeeper might not feature again this season after picking up a shoulder issue during the international break. The timing may well block any realistic route back into the side before the campaign ends.
What Rob Edwards said about Sam Johnstone
Edwards has confirmed that Johnstone may now struggle to play again this season.
Johnstone is one of two players unavailable for the West Ham game, the other being Matt Doherty.

Doherty is likely to only miss this game.
But the issue for Johnstone is more serious, with Edwards saying: “Fully fit group, other than Sam, his shoulder issue. So Sam won’t be available. Doc’s got a little bit of a niggle.
“Potentially (he’ll be out for the season). Hopefully I’ll have a bit more detail on that for the next time we speak, maybe next week. So potentially yeah, we’ll see.”
That timeline leaves little room for recovery within the remaining fixtures. Any delay in fitness now rules him out of meaningful involvement before the campaign concludes.
Johnstone’s last appearance for Wolves came on March 6 in the FA Cup defeat to Liverpool.
He hasn’t played in the Premier League since December 13.
Why this could mark the end for Johnstone at Wolves
It is now possible that Johnstone has already played his last game for Wolves.
Of course at the moment, Jose Sa is the clear number one at Molineux after regaining his place earlier this season.
But if Johnstone can’t be called upon for the remainder of the campaign, then it’s very possible that Liverpool game could have been his final appearance.

Liam Keen recently spoke about Wolves potentially overhauling their goalkeeping department this summer.
He suggested Jose Sa was ‘guaranteed’ to leave, while Johnstone was also likely to go.
Both keepers are 33 and Wanderers do need more of a long-term option.
