Official FA announcement as Vitor Pereira learns his Wolves punishment

Vitor Pereira was shown a red card against Brighton for kicking a ball towards the dugouts in frustration, and now his punishment has been announced.

The Portuguese head coach had to watch the rest of the game against Brighton in the stands, and with no ruling coming before the Sunderland clash, he was allowed on the touchline at the Stadium of Light.

The Wolves boss was left dismayed by Joao Gomes cheaply giving the ball away and leaving Wolves open to a counterattack against the Seagulls.

It was a rare moment of a loss of control by Pereira, and it had left him open to potentially missing some crucial matches.

Vitor Pereira fined £15,000 as suspension avoided

Vitor Pereira has been fined £15,000 and will not serve a touchline ban following his red card against Brighton.

A statement by the FA reads, “An independent Regulatory Commission has fined Wolverhampton Wanderers FC’s Vitor Pereira £15,000 for misconduct during their Premier League fixture on Sunday 5 October against Brighton & Hove Albion FC.

“It was alleged that the manager acted in an improper manner around the 19th minute, which led to his dismissal, and he subsequently admitted the charge.

“The Regulatory Commission imposed his sanction following a hearing, and its written reasons can be seen below.”

The report by the FA also says that “the majority decision of the Commission was that a sporting sanction was not warranted.”

Reasons for the Wolves head coach avoiding the suspension were listed as follows:

It is a big boost for the Old Gold, who are now confirmed to have their manager in the dugout when they face Burnley in a crucial relegation clash.

It is a big match for Vitor Pereira’s future, as his time at the Wanderers hangs in the balance.

Wolves are currently looking at a tough battle to survive after going winless in their opening eight matches. Their game against the Clarets is being billed a ‘must-win’, and that could not be closer to the truth.

His appearance on the touchline could prove to be a defining factor in the game, as it will allow him to organise his side more easily throughout proceedings.
